  1. Q no 1- Link between given scenario and issue of empowerment related to speaking English.
Ans- I think that as it is given in the scenario Mumbaikars have 4-5 languages in their daily conversation. This has an impact on empowerment for sure. Because Mumbaikars while speaking English also use some words which are typical to Mumbai. Other states people tend to judge Mumbaikars on this basis. Also it is seen that people from lower social status have a very vague language consisting of 'tapori words' whereas people from higher social status use elegant words in their conversation

  9. 6) Is the way you speak commented on? where? school? work? social setting?

Initially when I had joined school as my mother is from Kerala I had a typical South Indian accent or maybe pronounciation of certain words were quite different. I never came to understand about it until I reached the secondary section and my classmates used to immitate the way I pronounced certain words. I somewhat took it is a challenge and improved my knowledge about vocabulary and phonics which led to improve my skills.

    1. 7) What is your opinion about Language and self identity?

Language totally expresses half of our identity to which culture or to which area of the world we belong. As language is way of communication and interaction so we can get a pretty clear idea of a one’s identity when we interact with one. I don't really think you can simply identify yourself only with your language. You identify also with how were raised. But as you grow you re-evaluate some of the things you may have been taught and change you views and maybe no longer identify yourself as something you did when you were young.
