1) Glossary contains explanations of concepts relevant to a certain field of study or action. It helps the students to understand the difficult words when they go through reading . Yes the teacher should prepare the glossary which helps the students to identify and acquire the vocabulary of the discipline.
ReplyDeleteYes teacher should prepare glossary as it works like a guide. If a student faces any problem in understanding a particular word he/she can refer the glossary and resolve the doubt.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the glossary not only explains the concepts it even translates the jargon into another language( for e.g. Hindi) so that if the students find it hard to understand the concept in English they can understand it better in Hindi.
ReplyDeleteTeacher should first understand which language I used that children will understand and understand the students minds.
ReplyDeleteGlossary serve as a dictionary for the reader.and it makes sure that it works as a reference throughout their reading of the book to the reader.
ReplyDelete1) A teacher must prepare glossary so that when students are reading text at home and have forgotten the meaning of certain word that teacher told them during class they can see it in glossary and will recall it.
ReplyDelete2) While a teacher is in Indian classroom, they have to keep in mind:
a) economical background of students: if the students are from low economic background a teacher should use language that has fewer jargons and complex words and if the students are from higher economic background the teacher must not include street language as they will not be able to connect.
b) area in which the school is situated: A teacher must use words from the local language of the area. If the school is in Maharashtra then students will be able to easily know 'kanda' instead of 'pyaaz' and 'batata' instead of 'aaloo'
1. Glossary is prepared so that students can refer to it at any point of time, either being at home or in classroom for better understanding of the chapter. Yes, teachers must use glossary for class.
ReplyDelete2. In my opinion teachers in India must use the mixture of local and subject language for better understanding of the students. Also teachers can use famous local personalities/places/ while giving examples.
1) A glossary, also known as a vocabulary is an alphabetical list of terms in a particular domain of knowledge with the definitions for those terms. Traditionally, a glossary appears at the end of a book and includes terms within that book that are either newly introduced, uncommon, or specialized. A teacher should prepare glossary for her students as there would be students of different calibre in her class, some students would require the meaning of words once they sit back at home and go through the study material. If a glossary is readily available it makes learning easier and even the student would be able to improve their vocabulary skills rather than just rote learning.
ReplyDeleteWell attempted by all.....You all can continue discussion here based on the specific types of vocabulary used in science, religion, sports, law etc
